About Charlotte Mason Beehive
Charlotte Mason Beehive is a small family business based in Leicestershire, England. We are named for the Junior School House of Fairfield, the Practicing School of the Charlotte Mason College in Ambleside, which was known simply as ‘The Beehive’ and lay within the grounds of the college. This is where pupils of the Junior School (ages 7-11) took their lessons.
We aim to help share the love of the Charlotte Mason Method by providing a comprehensive and straight-forward resource for home educating parents, primarily located in the United Kingdom, who are following the Charlotte Mason philosophy of education in their homes.
New content, books, and resources will be released regularly but this website will not be treated like a blog, but as a living resource which will hopefully save parents time and frustration in finding the information they require quickly and efficiently. We therefore reserve the right to edit and update the content of these pages as and when necessary, and whenever new information presents itself.
Unless otherwise stated the information shared on these pages is based upon the principles and practices of Charlotte Mason; and the workings of the Parents’ National Educational Union, the Parents’ Union School (P.U.S.), and the Practicing School.
We hope this will prove a valuable resource for not just U.K. home educating mummies (and daddies), but anyone who, like us, has caught the C.M. bug. May it forever continue to remain infectious!
About the Founder
Hi, I’m Rachel, follower of Christ, wife to one, mother of two, and the founder of Charlotte Mason Beehive. I like drinking tea, collecting vintage books, and going for longs walks with my family through the endless fields and countryside surrounding our home.
I’m so thrilled to be a part of this wonderful journey, alongside all of you, united in our great admiration and respect for Charlotte Mason and her invaluable contributions to the world of education.
We live in Middle England, at the very heart of our ‘green and pleasant land’, surrounded by hills and vales, woods and streams, and where we are so blessed to be able to spend so many of our waking hours in the outdoors, exploring fields, disused railway lines and quarries, wild woodlands, rivers, and lakes.
As an ardent Charlotte Mason enthusiast, I am so blessed to have discovered the method while my children are still little (thanks in no small part to the amazing women (and men) who have dedicated so much of their time in getting the Charlotte Mason message out there; I am and always shall be greatly indebted to them for setting me straight on this path).
We have an Instagram account where we share all the ins and outs of our own little schoolhouse so please check us out at charlottemasonschoolhouse.
We can’t wait to meet you!
